Why Is My Firestick Remote Blinking Orange

Are you having issues with the Firestick remote because it is blinking orange, and you don’t know what this exactly means? Well, the indicator on the Fire Stick remote is there to make things easier and tell you about the status of the remote.

So, what does the Fire Stick remote blinking orange light mean? Well, the orange light tells that the remote is not connected to the Fire TV Stick and is in discovery mode.

Fixing this issue is really easy, and you’ll find multiple ways to fix it below in this article. Keep reading to know what different colors mean on the Firestick remote and how to fix the issue.

What Does the Orange Light on the Firestick Remote Mean?

One of the most-occurring colors on the Firestick remote is orange, and it happens a lot of times with me as well. The orange light indicates that the remote has lost its connection to the Fire TV Stick and has entered discovery mode, which means you can reconnect the remote.

However, the orange light should be in blinking mode and not be solid.

Person Holding Firestick Remote

There isn’t just one reason why the remote controller blinks orange, and it’s essential to know about every possibility the remote does not work. Below are some common reasons the remote may start blinking orange.

Obstacles or Distance between the Remote and the Fire Tv Stick

The range of the Firestick remote is around 30 feet, but poor batteries and a damaged sensor can curtail the range. If the remote is far away from the Firestick and is not able to communicate with it, you may see an orange light.

Also, if there are some obstacles between the remote and the Fire TV Stick, the orange blinking light might be there.

The Batteries are Flat

Flat batteries are another reason the remote may start blinking orange. When the remote is low on batteries, it does not function properly. However, the exact sign of flat batteries is a solid red indicator, but it only shows up when the remote has run out of batteries.

Incompatible Third-party Apps

If you download and run third-party incompatible apps on Firestick (here’s the official Amazon Apps repository), the remote may not respond at that time and can enter discovery mode.

Poor Internet Connectivity

A fast and stable internet connection is required to stream on the Firestick, and if that is not the case with you, it may result in the remote blinking orange. If the Wi-Fi is weak and there is not enough bandwidth, the remote will not function properly.

How to Fix Orange Light Blinking Issue on Firestick

There are several ways to fix the orange light issue, and that majorly depends on the reason that’s causing the issue. Below you will find several fixes you can try to make the remote controller work properly.

#1. Remove Obstacles between the Remote and Firestick

If there are any obstacles between the remote and Firestick, get rid of them ASAP. Also, if you are far away from the Firestick, you need to get closer to it. I recommend not getting away more than 15 feet. Weak batteries are not able to power the sensors, which may cause the issue.

#2. Put in New Batteries

First, clear all obstacles between the Firestick and the Fire Tv remote. Now put in a pair of fresh batteries and press the Home button for 20 seconds. Try using the remote. The orange indicator may still blink, but it will stop after you press the home button.

#3. Power Cycle the Firestick

Whenever my Firestick remote starts blinking orange, I power cycle the Firestick, and it helps fix the issue. Power cycling the Firestick refreshes it and helps resolve the problem. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Plug out the Firestick from the HDMI port of your TV.
